Description:
A two pack high solid, low VOC; high build refined bleached tar epoxy coating. Used as a rust preventive coating for long-term protection to marine & industrial structures exposed to corrosive environments. Exhibits excellent resistance to impact, abrasion and chemical attack. It is compatible with a wide range of primers, but is also self-priming and can be applied to prepared steel or concrete surfaces.
Recommended Uses:
Can be used as tank coating in water and cargo/ballast tanks subject to water and/or petroleum immersion. Also recommended for interior and exterior of brine, water, process and treating tanks, etc. Pipe racks and structures subject to marine or chemical exposure where corrosion protection as well as appearance is desired.

Surface Preparation:
This product is designed to be applied on compatible and approved shop primers. Prior to the application of this product ensure that the painted substrate is intact and free from contaminates. All damaged areas of primer should be rectified and made good to ensure uniformity of system. The substrate should then be thoroughly degreased in accordance with SSPC-SPI. All dust should be removed from the substrate by using clean brushes and /or to the application of this product. For additional protection in severe corrosion environments additional coats of Simguard-2120 may be necessary for which another shade is recommended to provide a contrast in multi-coat application. On a primed surface a DFT of 325 microns 13 mils is recommended. When applied directly on a blasted and cleaned surface, a 400 micron 16 mil. DFT is advised. This product is self-priming and can be used on concrete.
Application Data:
Apply by airless spray.
Type and Percentage of Thinner: Airless spray: Thinner T-1 approx. 0-5% by vol.
Brush, roller: Thinner T-1 appro. 5-10 % by vol.
Details for airless spray: Output fluid pressure: 180 bar (atm) 2610 PSI
Minimum tip orifice: 0.018"
Potlife at 20º C/69º F: 3 hrs.

Additional Application Data:
At temperatures, below 15º C/59º F an induction time of the mixed components of 30 minutes should be allowed. The recommended method of application is by airless spray. Use of brush or roller should be restricted to small areas only. The substrate temperature before coating should be 5-7º F above the dew point. Application below 10º C/50º F or over 50º C/122º F and/or when the relative humidity is over 80% should be avoided. The spray fan should be adjusted to minimize overspray.
Safety Precautions:
During application take normal precautions such as wearing safety gloves, face masks an eye shields. Adequate ventilation must be maintained when applying this product in confined spaces. Observe all statutory local by-laws with respect to health and safety together with the laws governing storage of flammable liquid products. Keep material away from sparks or open flames.
